Words elude us on this one. What can we say, but to join Mrs. Blurry in shouting “Hallelujah! Praise Jesus for all this wonderful, tall corn!!!”

Haha this is great. This and number 2 are my favorites. =)
It is not unlikely that Jesus was muscular.
When it comes to design, consistency is a better measure than “quality”. And that’s because design quality is relative. So while I agree with you on some of these covers, others I disagree on. For instance, while the “Creation Answer Book” is not topically my cup of tea, based on the audience he is selling to (not me) I’d say its extremely well done – because it would appeal to that audience, making them more likely to buy the book. Hence: cover design success.
I would also say that, interestingly, some of your choices were pretty middle of the road; meaning, if you polled 100 people my guess is two or three of the covers would switch back and forth between the “best” and “worst” lists.
you guys should win an award for worst website design. Awful! I did enjoy the awards though.
#1: Since when does a book of fiction need a subtitle??
it is such a shame son of perdition and the first judgement (oh, the first judgement) weren’t released this year. some of the worst book covers of all time.
#1 is awesome! I hope I’m that relaxed hugging my son if we ever witness an atomic mushroom.
The Unglued cover always makes me think of the convenient bags on the airplanes. Is she puking into her big yellow purse??
#4 is best. It’s perfect.
Maybe that muscular Jesus book could have borrowed one of those ‘shadow man’ covers. Shudder!
1 and 12, brother. Awesome. Though now I’m afraid mine will be on 2013’s list….
The illustrator of the Action Bible Devotional is Sergio Carriello, a professional comic book artist. If we don’t object to translating the Bible into other languages, we shouldn’t balk at using nontraditional artistic styles to illustrate it. I can guarantee you that there are readers out there who’d find that cover more intriguing than conventional religious publications.
#12 is the only one that made me LOL. My first thought was of that old horror movie, “Children of the Corn” (which I haven’t seen), and I imagined that this photo was taken as she was being pursued by the Children of the Corn!! LOL!
