Pastoral Care

St. Gregory the Great

St. Gregory’s work consists of four parts. The first part explains the difficulties of the pastoral office and the requirements it places on him who is called to it. The second part sets forth the inner and outer life of the good pastor. The third deals with the manner of teaching the various classes of persons whom the pastor is called upon to rule. The fourth part states briefly how the pastor should be mindful of his own infirmities.
