Today marks the anniversary of the death of poet Sara Teasdale.

Teasdale wrote a surprising number of lovely poems about birds. Here are five of our favorites:

 
 

Swallow Flight
Sara Teasdale

I LOVE my hour of wind and light,
I love men’s faces and their eyes,
I love my spirit’s veering flight
Like swallows under evening skies.
