For those of you who receive the ERB via email, this is one of those very rare occasions where we post mid-week, but wanted to be sure that all our readers had seen this… Thanks to those of you who have made a donation already!
Friends of The Englewood Review of Books,
Thanks for your faithful reading of The Englewood Review!
You have been essential to our rapid growth as a publication over the last four years, from a meager email newsletter that went out to about 100 friends to a thriving print and online publication that has about 4000 readers on a weekly basis. One year ago, we launched our quarterly print edition, and are delighted to have survived our crucial first year as we continue to learn the ropes of running a sustainable publication. Not only have we survived, we have been able to cover the full costs of printing and mailing our print magazine through your partnership with us as subscribers and advertisers. The revenues we received from subscriptions and advertising, however, were not sufficient to cover any of the labor that went into the managing, editing and layout of The Englewood Review. Normally, we would be able to fund this labor with other book-related initiatives in which we are involved, but this year a couple of those endeavors have also struggled, and we are faced with a deficit of between five and ten thousand dollars.
Therefore, between now and the end of 2011, we will be running a fundraising campaign in efforts to cover as much of this deficit as possible. If you are a regular reader of The Englewood Review, please consider joining with us in this effort in one of the following ways:
Making a Donation – The Englewood Review is a business operated by Englewood Community Development Corporation, a 501(c)3 non-profit. Any donation you make is tax-deductible and we will be glad to send you a receipt documenting your donation. CLICK HERE to make a donation or you may send a check made out to:
Englewood Community Development Corp. / 57 N Rural St / Indianapolis, IN 46201
Subscribing or Giving Gift Subscriptions – If you regularly read the free, online edition of The Englewood Review, we encourage you to subscribe to our print edition ($19.95 for 4 issues/1 year). If you are already a subscriber, please consider giving a subscription to The Englewood Review to your church and to all the readers on your Christmas list this year. You can subscribe or give gift subscriptions here: http://subscriptions.englewoodreview.org/
Advertising – If you run or work for a business whose audience would be similar to that of The Englewood Review, we ask that you consider running an ad in our print edition or on our website (or recommending this to whomever makes advertising decisions at your business). You can find further information about advertising here:

Thanks again for your friendship and for bearing with us as we strive to mature into a sustainable publication. We anticipate needing some additional funding over the next two or three years as we continue to grow toward sustainability, so if you have any recommendations of a church, foundation or other group that might realistically make a grant to assist with our upcoming operating expenses, we would love to hear about that!
Thanks be to God for the superabundance of God’s provision, and for friends like you who are on this journey with us!
Grace and Shalom in Christ Jesus!
