ERB Editor C. Christopher Smith hosted an in-person conversation with three of the co-authors of the new book The Shape of Our Lives: A Field Guide for Congregational Formation from Englewood Press. They discuss the concept of formation, its inevitability, and what it means for leaders of congregations to pursue intentional formation in the context of community and worship.
Guests on this episode include Debra Dean Murphy, Stephen Fowl, and Philip Kenneson. Debra is Professor of Religious Studies at West Virginia Wesleyan College and the founder and co-director of the school’s Center for Restorative Justice. Stephen is President and Dean of the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, engaged in the formation for the next generation of priests for the Episcopal Church. He is also an internationally recognized scholar of the New Testament, focusing in the relationships between Scripture and Christian doctrine. Philip is Professor of Theology and Philosophy at Milligan University in Eastern Tennessee.
