Inspired is a book that started with Evans’s own questions to God. In the process of trying to answer the questions of why Bible stories are so violent or why the Bible doesn’t give us clearer moral answers, she returns to the value of story. “We may wish for answers,” Evans writes at the end of the book, “but God rarely gives us answers. Instead, God gathers us up into soft, familiar arms and says, ‘Let me tell you a story.”
