Host Jen Pollock Michel sat down (live!) with two first-time podcast guests at the recent CCDA conference: E.K. Strawser and Lisa Rodriguez-Watson. They have an impassioned discussion about the importance of contextualizing discipleship work in the setting of the local congregation, as well as the importance of Western Christians listening to the global church.
E. K. Strawser is the co-vocational lead pastor of Ma Ke Alo o (which means “presence” in Hawaiian), non-denominational missional communities multiplying in Honolulu, Hawaii; a community physician at Ke Ola Pono; and an executive leader at the V3 Movement, the church planting arm of the Baptist General Association of Virginia. Lisa Rodriguez-Watson serves as the national director of Missio Alliance, a generative, expansive, and intercultural network of Christian leaders committed to cultivating a holistic theology and practice in order to reshape the church’s witness in the world. In addition to her work with Missio Alliance, Lisa serves as associate pastor of discipleship and equipping at Christ City Church in Washington, DC, alongside her husband Matthew.
